Is your website ready for the mobile-friendly Google update?
For the past few years we have seen a dramatic growth in the number of mobile devices connected across the globe. Google has noticed this too, and starting April 21, 2015 they plan to do something about it. If your website isn’t ready, the results could be dramatic.
The new Google (late-for-spring-cleaning) Update is putting a strong emphasis on page loading time and small-screen friendliness. For you, that means one thing: responsive design. If the site doesn’t look good on a mobile device, then expect your search results ranking to start dropping.
Here are two things you can do today to help make sure that doesn’t happen.
- Test your website.
The Google mobile-friendly testing tool will let you know right away if your website is good to go or stuck in slow. If you’re interested in testing your entire site and are using Google Analytics (and it’s free, so why not?) you can check out the Mobile Usability Report section and see how your entire site reacts in a mobile environment. If your website gets a passing grade, your search results are safe. If not…
- Contact 4Web.
There are a dozen things that need to happen if your site doesn’t pass the test. You can read all about them online, or you could contact 4Web and we’ll help you navigate through the Google search minefield. From search engine updates, to responsive site overhauls, to new designs, 4Web will listen and work with you, whatever your website needs.
