WineMaker Magazine had a custom content management system that was outdated and subsequently difficult to manage. The site featured a significant and sometime complex feature set that needed updating, too: banner ads, online newsletter, online search, polls, e-commerce shopping cart, blog, photo gallery, supplier/club directory, and a calculator for sulfite levels in wine. Additionally, as part of its business model and sales efforts, WineMaker needed its site content presented in a variety of ways, including by issue and by interest.
To tackle the site upgrade, 4Web used the Mijo Shop shopping cart to replace the old Virtuemart store and implemented Google Doubleclick for managing banner advertising accounts. We installed and set-up an easy blogging interface for non-technically oriented wine enthusiasts, and a photo gallery.
Nearly 1000 pages of content was transferred from the old site into the new CMS which was much easier to use and manage. The design was exactly what the client wanted, with all of the required functionality. Now the client can update the site with new articles, blog entries, and photos, as well as manage sales via the online store.
